TRACEY SIMMONS
Violin Soloist
Tracey studied from the age of 14 with the famed Italian concert solo violinist Alfredo Campoli (please see the rare video footage on this website) and then later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Detlef Hahn. At the age of 14 Tracey played the Bach double Violin Concerto at the Royal Albert Hall, London which was televised and transmitted around the world.
She has had a varied playing career and has been fortunate to work with Sir George Martin, Ron Goodwin and Henry Mancini. She has also worked with the Norwegian National Opera, guesting at the Thursford Christmas Shows and in the West End.
Serving six years as a member of Her Majesty’s Band of The Scots Guards , she appeared as their Soloist in many concerts at home and abroad as well as carrying out extensive ceremonial duties. She was regularly performing for Royalty and Heads of State at State Banquets and Investitures at Buckingham Palace, Holyroodhouse Palace and The Lord Mayor of London's Residence, The Guildhall.
In 2002 she was the selected soloist at The Edinburgh Military Tattoo in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and then in 2005 was invited to be the soloist again for the Military Tattoo in Australia (video clip on the right), playing to audiences of 27,000 per night live and to millions via satelite television link . On Christmas Eve 2007, Tracey was broadcast worldwide on BFBS Radio from The Guard’s Chapel, performing the Theme from Schindler’s List in the presence of HRH Prince Michael of Kent.
Since leaving the Scots Guards in 2008, Tracey has graduated with a Masters Degree in Music Performance from Salford University and is currently working on various projects and also preparing for her concert schedules. After her stunning performance in the 2008 Harwich International Music Festival she was invited again to appear in the 2009 event in July and recieved a standing ovation. She has already been booked by the 2010 fesitival organisers to perform the Bruch Violin Concerto with Orchestra and will be one of the star attractions.
Tracey's main instrument is of course the violin, of which she has many, including a state-of-the-art electrIc instrument that she uses when playing in rock concerts etc transforming her sound into a mega guitar solo. However, she also excels playing other instruments especially the saxophone and enjoys many other kinds of music such as original urban folk.
Should you wish to book Tracey for a function or performance, please consult the diary page via the tab above - at the moment her only confirmed 2011 solo commitments are the Beethoven Triple Concerto in July and therefore she may be able to accomodate your request. She has also a number of vacant dates for the remainder of this year.
